Came in on Saturday

| | Comments (0)
I was experiencing contact lens difficulty that was giving me iritis on and off throughout the summer. Towards the end of summer, I was fitted for a new pair of lenses. I was also about to leave on a cross country trip for school. My doctor came into his office on Saturday just to see me and to make sure my eyes were fully healed and that my contacts were no longer bothering me.

Worked with the insurance company

| | Comments (0)

One of my specialists worked with the insurance company to get a visit covered that was being denied. Supposedly the doctor that saw me, who was a member of their group, was not one that I could see under the plan. Somehow they fixed that for me, and I got reimbursed for the cost of the visit.

Calls Me

My doctor always calls me after dinner to tell me my blood results, and if they're fine, she doesn't make me come in for an appt just to hand me the scripts.

When my husband was injured at work, the billing staff was very accommodating re: working with Workers Comp so that we wouldn't get stuck with the bills.

Personal hero of mine

| | Comments (0)
The first doctor who treated me like a human and not like a mental case. He diagnosed me correctly, and really listened. He demanded that I change everything about my lifestyle and he inspired me to do it. He treated my extreme pain humanely, and I received excellent and innovative treatments. He is a personal hero of mine.

Great care by his therapist

| | Comments (0)
We have a child with Autism and he has been given great care by his therapist. She goes the extra mile giving us her own books to borrow, calling and emailing all the time to see how things are going, and offering to take off work just to be at special meetings and testings.

Help pay my bill

During a hospital stay, the hospital found all the resources for me to get help paying my bill. My doctor worked very hard to help me survive an illness that should have killed me. The hospital system here helped me get my medications for free when I had no money

Very Thorough

My doctor is very thorough and she made sure to get an MRI and ultrasound and found an ovarian cyst that was causing me horrible pain.

Better assist me

| | Comments (0)
My doctor does not hesitate in referring me to a specialist when he feels that someone else may be able to better assist me. Even though it creates extra work for him, as he has to write a special reference letter and all.

Sing to me

When I had to have chemo treatments 2 years ago my oncology nurse would sing to me as she was hooking my port up to the IV. I would hardly feel the big stick.

Cheered me up

| | Comments (0)
As a child I had many asthma attacks that inevitably lead to many emergency room visits. As is procedure, I was always rushed right in and medicated as soon as possible, but I remember one time specifically in which after recovering I was taken to a machine and asked to blow in as hard a possible. After doing this a few times they showed me how I did on a computer screen and told me that even though I had asthma, my lungs were very strong. Of course that cheered me right up and made me feel much better about myself and my condition.

Makes me feel confident

| | Comments (0)

My general physician really listens to me about the side effects that I experience with my medicine and works with me to get the right dosage. She also remembers about my case each time I visit. That makes me feel confident that she understands my conditions and also I just appreciate the attention.

Feeling very ill

| | Comments (0)

I took my brother into the emergency room - he was feeling very ill - it turned out he had a serious blood clot close to his lung that was making breathing very difficult. One nurse went out of her way to make sure my brother had pain medication and did her best to expedite my brother's care from doctors.

Show of concern

I had a severe kidney infection and I went to the hospital because I was shaking all over and was very cold. I was only about 21 and was very scared. The nurse that took care of me when I went in was so nice and put me at ease by her sincere show of concern.

Treated like a friend

I had to go to the sleep clinic to be tested for apnea. The lady in charge talked to me like I was her friend, never once treated me like a "number". It made it a very positive experience.

Checking in

I had surgery in December and ended up with a spinal headache due to the spinal block. The anesthesiologist was so worried about me, he called me at home every day for the next week to check on me, because the blood patch had not worked to fix it.

A doctor who listens

| | Comments (0)
I have had several Dr.'s take the time to actually listen to me and include me in the decision making process. I am grateful that I was treated with dignity and respect and not treated as if I knew nothing.
